Changes in Colegio San Andrés
On 5 June 2007, the International Missions Board of the Free Church of Scotland were notified that Mr Donnie MacAulay had resigned as the Headmaster of the Colegio San Andrés in Lima, Peru for personal reasons. The Board accepted his resignation with immediate effect.
After a long and distinguished career in education in Scotland and Chile, Mr MacAulay was first appointed teacher of English at the Colegio in January 1999 and was named its Headmaster in July 2003. The International Missions Board express their appreciation to Mr MacAulay for his years of service to the school and especially his input to raising the level of academic and teaching excellence within the school. The Free Church of Scotland commends Donnie, his wife Marcela and their daughters Victoria and Gabriela to the prayers of the wider church.
Also on 5 June 2007, the International Missions Board officially named Rev Tim Donachie, Head of Secondary, to be the Interim Headmaster of Colegio San Andrés. The International Missions Board is currently seeking a suitable permanent replacement as Head of the school. The Colegio San Andrés celebrated its 90th anniversary on June 13, 2007 and is now moving into a significant period of transition to achieve local Peruvian governance of the school.
The Free Church of Scotland reiterates its commitment to the future of the Colegio San Andrés and continues to provide financial, practical and prayerful support in this significant endeavour to provide Christian primary and secondary education in Lima, Peru. The International Missions Board of the Free Church of Scotland proudly celebrates the nine decades of the school’s history and sincerely acknowledges the hard work and dedication of its staff members, parents and pupils. Most importantly, we as a church thank Almighty God for using the Colegio San Andrés to promote the Christian good of Peru. As the school looks forward to its 100th anniversary in 2017, its motto and ethos remains, “The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom.”
