Alex MacDonald to preach for the Queen

The Rev Alex MacDonald, minister of Buccleuch & Greyfriars Free Church, Edinburgh, has been invited to preach at Crathie Church before Her Majesty the Queen this Sunday (12th).

Mr MacDonald (58) has also been invited to stay at Balmoral Castle over the weekend. He said it was a great honour to be invited to preach before Her Majesty, not only for himself, but also for the congregation and the whole denomination.

Mr MacDonald hails originally from the Strath of Kildonan in Sutherland. Prior to working in Edinburgh, he ministered in Bishopbriggs and Aberdeen. He headed up the Free Church Youth Camp work for 11 years and he has been involved in hospital and school chaplaincy work. He was a member of the Lothian Region and City of Edinburgh Education Committees and was Moderator of the Free Church General Assembly in 2005.
