Press Release

Issued by Core Mediation on behalf of the mediation teams of the Free Church of Scotland and the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing)

The representatives of the parties took part in four days of talks at Carberry Tower. In that time they gained a deeper understanding of each other’s views. As a result certain proposals are to be put to their respective Commissions of Assembly with a view to finding ways to address remaining differences and which each recognise are based on genuinely-held beliefs.

The representatives wish to record their gratitude for the courtesy and respect shown to each other as brothers in Christ throughout the meetings. This created an atmosphere in which much constructive discussion took place.

Congregations are asked to pray for a successful conclusion to these deliberations.

Both parties wish to express their appreciation of the way in which John Sturrock and Hugh Donald of Core Mediation led the process.

No one at Core Mediation or either Church is authorised to make any further comment until after both Commissions have met.
