Free Church Moderator Presents Youth Awards

On Tuesday in Edinburgh, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Free
Church presented the Lyle Orr Awards to three young people.

Eilidh Macleod, Fiona Ferrier & Kara Hanlon
 
Eilidh Macleod (7) from Barvas won the award for Infant Grade. She is on P3
in the Gaelic Medium Unit in Barvas Primary School. She also attends Barvas
Free Church Sunday School. Her interests include: Bratz dolls, riding her bike, drawing and jumping on her trampoline. Her favourite film is "The Chronicles of Narnia" and her favourite Bible Story is King Solomon. She has 2 older sisters, Anne-Marie (11) and Rachel Kate (9).

The Junior award was presented to Kara Hanlon (9) from Stornoway, who is on
Primary 5 in Stornoway Primary School. She has an older sister Sarah (12)
and a younger brother Matthew (5). Kara's main hobby is swimming. She has
won lots of gold medals in different competitions and she has done the Swimathon for the last 2 years. That involves swimming 5000m without stopping, which is 200 lengths of the 25m Swimming Pool. Her favourite programme on the telly is Dancing on Ice, she would love to be able to ice skate.

Fiona Ferrier (13) from Tain won the Bible Class award. She attends Tain Free Church and the Solid Rock Group (Bible Class) and is in 2nd Year at Dornoch Academy. She plays the violin and keyboard and plays with the school strings group, Dichioll. In her spare time Fiona likes swimming, drawing, playing and listening to music and she is also an avid reader. After she leaves school, Fiona would either like to be a Primary School Teacher or an Interior Designer. She has two older brothers - Alex who is a student in Aberdeen and Kevin who is in his final weeks in school.
