Reverend Kenny I Macleod turns 60!
August 16, 2012
Stornoway Free Church’s assistant minister was presented with a cake after last night’s prayer meeting to mark his 60th birthday.
Reverend Kenny I Macleod turned 60 on 2 August, but was on holiday in Tenerife, meaning last night was the first opportunity for the congregation to surprise him.
Good friend Reverend Derek Lamont (pictured below), who is the main speaker at the Back Free Church youth weekend, led the meeting on Acts 2, the ten marks of a healthy church.
After the benediction, Clerk to the Deacons’ Court Murdo Iain Macleod got up and began speaking to the congregation about a “momentous occasion” in the history of the Free Church – the date being 2 August this year!
Mr Lamont was of course in on the secret, and made a very humorous speech. Kenny I was completely taken by surprise and thanked everyone for their kindness.

The cake, which was expertly created by Karina Murray, showed a timeline of the Stornoway assistant minister’s life.
Kenny I has been with the congregation since 1999, and before that was minister in Muir of Ord. He is married to Dolly, and they have three grown-up children, Marie, Norman and Abigail.
