First-ever event for ministers’ wives

February 08, 2013

In what is understood to be a first for a Scottish Presbyterian denomination, the Free Church of Scotland is hosting a gathering specifically for ministers’ wives.

The event takes place in Kiltarlity Free Church, near Inverness, on Saturday 2 March from 10am-4pm.

Organised by Smithton-Culloden Free Church’s family worker Ali MacDonald and a very gifted planning team, the theme for the day will be ‘enspire’, as those present join to encourage, enliven and energise.

Ali (pictured above) said: “The idea popped up through chatting with some ministers’ wives at the Women for Mission away day conference who indicated a desire to have such an event to encourage and support one another.

“An approach was made to the Home Missions Board who enthusiastically supported this.

“We then sent out a questionnaire to all ministers’ wives for their ideas, and ‘enspire’ was born!

“It is hoped that young and old from around Scotland will attend and benefit from sharing similar and differing experiences and we can guarantee the ladies who come will enjoy an informal, relaxing day sharing friendship, experiences and good food.”
