One of the Free Church of Scotland’s mission partners is hosting a series of meetings across the country from the end of May to early June.

Christian Witness to Israel, which is supported by the International Missions Board, will visit 15 congregations including their annual meetings at Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

CWI is a UK-based interdenominational evangelistic society that is committed to sharing the good news of Jesus the Messiah with Jewish people. They currently have missionaries in eight countries.

International Missions Board Vice- Chairman Reverend Iain Macaskill, is encouraging everyone to go along and find out more about CWI’s work.

Mr Macaskill said:  “Despite budgetary constraints, the International Mission Board continues to make a substantial financial contribution to the work of CWI.

“However, it is a concern that no one from our background is currently serving with CWI.

“Our prayer is that, as this tour of the Highlands and Islands gives opportunity for individuals to find out more about the current work that it would also be a means of calling someone to service in Jewish Mission.”

In 1842 Christian Witness to Israel was born in response to an initiative by Dr John Duncan, who saw the great potential for a mission to the Jews in London, while on his way to commence his ministry to the Jews of Budapest.

The Free Church made a fresh commitment to “Jewish Mission” in 1921 by channelling resources into what became CWI.

Since that time, the Free Church has made a significant contribution to the organisation, by way of missionaries, and also financial and prayer support.
