Home Missions

Home MissionsHome Missions is about taking the message of Jesus to the towns, villages and areas around us in our own location. Whilst many of our churches are strong and self-supporting, others are struggling and need support. There are still other areas where there is a need to open up new churches and the Free Church Home Mission Board meets regularly to focus on these areas.

The Home Missions Board is responsible for the oversight of the whole national mission of the Free Church. Its remit includes those of the previous Committees on Church Extension and Redevelopment, Sustentation and Ministry, Youth, and Social Responsibility. The General Assembly has also given the Board a new fundraising responsibility to raise funds for specific mission projects which are not already supported by central funds.

This is an exciting opportunity for the Church to rise to the many challenges which confront us in finding relevant and sustainable ways of serving our various communities, Highland and Lowland, rural and urban; building up strong churches; and ensuring that people, young and old, are hearing the gospel in all its power and glory.
