Ecumenical Relations

This Committee is the main contact point with the Free Church for other denominations at home and throughout the world.

The Committee are in regular correspondence with many denominations on a wide variety of issues. Churches who wish to set up formal relations with the Free Church would do so initially through this Committee.

The main tasks of the Committee are the promotion and protection of the Free Church’s standing at home and throughout the world. This Committee decides annually on which delegates are to be invited to the General Assembly.

One of the most gratifying developments in recent years for the Committee has been the supporting of younger churches in various parts of the world who wish to promote and maintain a distinctively Reformed witness in their own area. In consequence of the Free Church of Scotland being a member of the International Conference of Reformed Churches, the Committee keep in close contact with all other member churches and make arrangements every four years to send delegates to the ICRC conference.
