Following extensive research this marks the beginning of another phase of the Imagine Project which aims to revitalise whole-life, Christian disciple-making for the UK in the 21st century:
The Need – Let our people grow
“In the main, the UK Church has focused on making converts, not on making whole-life disciples – people who can live well for Christ in today’s culture, connecting faith to the whole of life and engaging compellingly with the people they meet. There are enough Christians in our nation to make a difference if we have the vision and if we’re equipped to do so.”
The Challenge – A new radical approach to discipleship
“Christian communities need to re-learn how to make whole-life disciples and this requires more than a new resource or a trip to a conference. It requires a new approach to helping people grow in Christ. The ‘Imagine’ project aims to help to transform the effectives of the UK Church’s ministry to its own people and its ministry and mission to those outside the Church.”
The Opportunity – To invest in equipping the Church for its whole-life, disciple making mission
“After two years of research and widespread consultations the time has come to work to develop biblically robust, culturally relevant, practical ways of equipping Christian communities to become what God intends them to be – agents of transformation for Christ in our nation” |
